A Journey To The Roof Of The World
At over 3000 meters (9800 meters), Ladakh is the highest plateau in the world. Amidst, the breathtaking landscape resides a tribe of Buddhist nomads who practice their centuries old vocation of rearing the Changthama- a special breed of goats that shed the finest cashmere hair. Surviving in what is perhaps one of the harshest conditions on the planet, the Changpa nomads and the Changthama goats are inspiring exhibits of endurance and a live vision of Darwin’s theory of evolution. We travelled with the nomads, participated in their rituals and even attended a beautiful wedding- until altitude sickness got the better of us.
